NEW YORK, NY – Best known for her irreverent, witty novels and award-winning literary nonfiction and journalism, NY Times and USA Today bestselling author Alisa Valdes – one of Time magazine’s 25 Most Influential Hispanics and a Latina magazine Woman of the Year – has a new accolade to add to her growing list: She is now among the writers represented by the selective InkWell Literary Management firm in New York.
All current and future Valdes books will be represented by the agency’s veteran agent Kim Witherspoon and brilliant newcomer Liz Parker. Valdes captured the agency’s attention with her latest manuscript, LINES IN THE SAND, the first in a series of books set along the US-Mexico border, featuring a handsome and unlikely American vigilante named Barton Duke. The series marks a slight departure from the “chica lit” Valdes has been known for in the past, but is still true to the author’s brand and vision as one of the smartest leading Latino literary voices in the United States.
“I went with InkWell because they took a holistic approach to my career,” says Valdes. “They weren’t just interested in one book, or in seeing me continue to do the same old thing. They are actively engaged in helping me to re-brand, re-shape and reinvigorate my career. I couldn’t be more excited.”
